He’ll be with his father, Lavaughn Jarvis.
“There’s nothing like it,” Lavaughn said.
“He’s been on every trip I’ve been on so far,” Darrin said.
Together, with the help of a few others, they’re taking four, 75-gallon pots, ready to cook and serve dinner for those who have nothing.
“Combined, we can feed approximately 4,000 [people] with all four pots at one time,” Darrin said.
It’s all donated. Chili, chicken, rice, soups and jambalaya.
For this father and son, who typically share little interests…they say they enjoy it.
“It’s really bonded us together and realize we do have some focuses that are exactly the same,” Darrin said.
“When we’re working, we work as a team and we bond there, too, it’s just a great experience to be with my son,” Lavaughn said.
The trips have nothing to do with each other, but everything to do with family. Helping those who have lost everything while offering hope for a better tomorrow.
“We speak words on them of encouragement and let them know there is going to be another sunny day,” Darrin said.
“We’re servants,” Lavaughn said. “We’re here to serve and fill needs. We can’t fill every need they have, but we can fill their partial needs.”
Filling the need. What this trip…what ever trip…is about.
